My MP3 player died about a week ago. Diagnosis appears to be 'flash memory worn out through over-use'. So I think I will get an MP3-CD player to replace it.

My TV also died on Thursday, so all in all it was a pretty bad week for things involving electricity and joy. I'm debating whether to get another TV, or treat myself with a projector instead. It seems impossible to get a simple TV these days, they all come with integrated DVD/VCR now it seems, which is completely useless to me. Either that or they are LCD/Plasma and hideously expensive for the size. All I want is something that will display a composite video signal. A wall-sized display is very tempting...
